The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) Kenya Branch remains committed to advancing the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) through the recognition and celebration of outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and practice of ADR. As the ADR landscape evolves, it is essential that the awards remain inclusive, targeted, and aligned with Ciarb Kenya’s values of excellence, integrity, and access to justice.
Following the proposal of the Awards Committee 2025 during the first Committee meeting on Wednesday 6th August a proposal was made to consider additional awards category to enhance the awards night experience as well as in promoting Diversity Equity and Inclusion judicial & partners’ collaboration, and regional reach of ADR development in Kenya.
This award recognizes a Ciarb member or ADR practitioner who has consistently and selflessly mentored emerging practitioners, imparting both technical knowledge and professional ethics. The recipient should demonstrate a sustained track record of guiding, supporting, and advancing the careers of mentees in the ADR field.
This award honors an individual who has demonstrated exceptional contribution in resolving disputes within the construction and infrastructure sector using ADR mechanisms such as adjudication, arbitration, mediation, or expert determination. The recipient should also have promoted the use of ADR in the construction industry, leading to faster and more efficient project delivery.
This award celebrates an individual who has actively championed the use of ADR in counties and rural or underserved areas of Kenya. The awardee must have initiated or participated in programs that decentralize ADR services, raise awareness, or provide access to ADR mechanisms outside Nairobi and other urban centers.
This award acknowledges a trailblazer in integrating traditional, community-based, or culturally appropriate mechanisms into formal ADR processes. The recipient must have worked towards legitimizing and strengthening AJS structures, ensuring they align with constitutional principles, particularly access to justice and human rights.
This award is dedicated to a judicial officer who has made a significant impact in promoting ADR within the judiciary, either through policy development, jurisprudence, or integration of ADR in court processes. The individual must have exhibited a commitment to easing court backlogs through ADR uptake.
This award recognizes a Ciarb-accredited tutor or training professional who has demonstrated outstanding effectiveness in delivering ADR training, mentoring students, and contributing to the growth of knowledge and skills within the profession. The tutor should have an established reputation for excellence, innovation, and commitment in teaching.
This award recognizes Ciarb Partner organization, institution that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing access to justice through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
This award honors a leading professional whose work has significantly advanced Arbitration and ADR practice across Africa. It recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and contributions that have improved access to justice, strengthened institutions, and elevated Africa’s global ADR profile.
