Ciarb Kenya and Kenya School of Government Sign Strategic Partnership MOU to Advance ADR and Capacity Building

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch) and the Kenya School of Government (KSG) yesterday formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) training, research, and institutional capacity building.

The MOU was signed in the presence of the Ciarb Kenya Chairman, Prof. Wyne Mutuma,MBS, C.Arb and the Director General of the Kenya School of Government, Prof. Nuru Mohamed, alongside representatives from both institutions.

This landmark partnership establishes a collaborative framework through which the two institutions will work together in promoting ADR awareness, enhancing professional training, supporting public sector capacity development, and advancing thought leadership in dispute resolution and governance.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Prof. Wyne Mutuma noted that the partnership reflects Ciarb Kenya’s continued commitment to promoting effective and accessible dispute resolution mechanisms within Kenya and across the region. He emphasized the importance of equipping public officers and professionals with practical ADR skills to support efficient governance and conflict management.

Prof. Nuru Mohamed highlighted the Kenya School of Government’s mandate in strengthening public sector competence and welcomed the collaboration as an important step towards integrating ADR knowledge and best practices within government institutions.

Under the MOU, the two institutions will collaborate in several key areas including:

  • Development and delivery of ADR training programmes for government officials and stakeholders;
  • Joint research, publications, and thought leadership initiatives;
  • Organization of co-branded conferences, webinars, workshops, and outreach programmes;
  • Promotion of continuous professional development in arbitration and ADR;
  • Establishment of partnerships with other institutions and development partners.

The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of ADR practice in Kenya by strengthening institutional capacity, encouraging knowledge sharing, and promoting the adoption of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms within the public sector.

The MOU marks an important milestone in fostering cooperation between professional and public sector institutions in advancing fair, efficient, and modern approaches to dispute resolution.
