The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch) is pleased to announce the release of the 2nd Edition of The ADR Compass, a publication dedicated to exploring contemporary developments and perspectives in alternative dispute resolution across the region.
The second edition takes the theme “East Africa’s Path: ADR for Growth & Integration,” examining the role of alternative dispute resolution in supporting regional growth, trade and integration.
Exploring ADR for East African Integration
This edition explores what can be described as the “software of regional growth” — the laws, dispute-resolution mechanisms and cultural nuances that enable greater integration across East Africa.
With the East African Community (EAC) continuing to strengthen regional economic and institutional ties, effective dispute resolution remains an important part of ensuring that cross-border relationships can develop and thrive.
The 2nd Edition therefore turns its attention to the practical realities of cross-border dispute resolution, asking an important question: If the EAC is the engine for growth, how do we ensure that the dispute-resolution process keeps it running?
The publication brings together practical perspectives on the legal, procedural and cultural considerations that shape ADR across the region.
A Regional Platform for ADR Conversations
Although The ADR Compass is a Kenya Branch publication, the second edition reflects a regional outlook and welcomes perspectives from colleagues across East Africa. The publication is intended for a diverse ADR audience, including lawyers, engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and other professionals interested in the development of effective dispute-resolution mechanisms.
The 2nd Edition continues the publication’s role as a platform for meaningful conversations on ADR while highlighting the opportunities and challenges presented by increasing regional integration.
