Empowering Members Through Education
On 25TH JUNE, CIArb Kenya hosted its Opening Day: Education Day Webinar, bringing together both new and seasoned members for an informative and interactive session designed to deepen understanding of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators’ processes and membership journey.
The webinar served as a platform to educate members on key aspects of CIArb’s professional ecosystem, including:
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Participants learned about the importance of CPDs in maintaining professional standards and staying current in the ever-evolving ADR landscape.
- Routes to Membership: Attendees were guided through the various pathways to becoming an Associate, Member, or Fellow of CIArb, with practical advice on qualifications and required experience.
- Understanding the Roll of Neutrals: The session clarified how professionals are listed, their roles in dispute resolution, and how the Roll supports transparency and quality assurance.
- Member Payments and Appointments: The administrative process around membership fees, appointment to cases, and how these align with global best practices was demystified.
- Arbitrator Appointment & Vetting Process: One of the highlights of the session was a deep dive into how arbitrators are vetted and assigned to disputes, an area of great interest to many aspiring neutrals.
In true collaborative spirit, the webinar also featured an open Q&A and feedback session, where members had the opportunity to raise questions, share experiences, and offer constructive suggestions on how CIArb Kenya can enhance its service and support to the ADR community.
This Education Day reaffirmed CIArb Kenya’s commitment to transparency, capacity building, and member empowerment. The insights shared not only bridged knowledge gaps but also strengthened the connection between members and the institution.
We thank all attendees for their enthusiastic participation and thoughtful contributions. CIArb Kenya looks forward to incorporating your feedback and continuing to provide valuable resources that support your professional journey in arbitration and ADR.
