The Young Members Group (YMG) Steering Committee participated in a Career Development Workshop at Riara University School of Law.

On 4 March 2026, the Young Members Group (YMG) Steering Committee participated in a Career Development Workshop at Riara University School of Law, organised in collaboration with the Young Arbiters Society – Riara Chapter.

The workshop brought together law students for a practical and engaging discussion on career development in arbitration and dispute resolution. Members of the YMG Steering Committee shared insights on the various pathways available to young professionals interested in the field, highlighting the importance of early professional positioning, academic writing and thought leadership, and strategic networking within the arbitration community.

The panel also explored the diverse professional opportunities within arbitration and ADR, emphasizing that careers in the field extend beyond serving as arbitrators to include roles such as tribunal secretaries, arbitration practitioners, researchers, and institutional professionals.

The session was well attended, with active participation from students across different year groups who engaged the panel through thoughtful questions and discussions about entering and growing within the profession.

The programme also featured remarks from the Dean of the Law School, Dr. Victor Lando, and the Charlotte Nyangeri, Patron of the Young Arbiters Society at Riara, who both underscored the importance of early skills development, mentorship, and professional orientation for students aspiring to build careers in arbitration and dispute resolution.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for students to connect with young arbitration practitioners and gain practical insights into navigating the arbitration landscape at an early stage in their legal careers.
