East Africa International Arbitration Conference

As a strategic partner to the East Africa International Arbitration Conference the Branch was well represented at this year’s conference we offered a training on Award Writing; giving a snippet of our Module 3 course in Arbitration. Chair Emeritus Dr. Wilfred Mutubwa OGW LL.D FCIArb Chartered Arbitrator started by indicating how Award Writing is both a science and an art that is refined with time. Based on feedback received we shall be hosting a Workshop on Practical Approach on Award Writing on the 28th & 29th September. This will be facilitated by Dr K I Laibuta . Collins Namachanja and Kethi Kilonzo.

In addition to the training Jacqueline Waihenya – Chartered Arbitrator, FCS, LLM gave the East African Perspective on Arbitration highlighting the various strides each of the jurisdictions within EAC has taken in embracing Arbitration and the key role the Branch has played in building capacity in this region for practitioners and judicial officers alike.
